New Links

Well, that didn't take quite as long as I expected and now I have a fairly clean break up of the major boat building sections linked on the Right Side of the page under "PAGE LINKS".

I'll build out more pages if necessary, but for now this will go a long way in helping to manage things a bit better.

For starters, we have:

Home Page:  Right here, where it all began
Boat Shed: Everyone needs a place to build such a project
Beams: The things that attach to the floats
Floats: The things that attach to the beams
Main Hull: The place where you cower in fear
Interior: A place to call home
Center Board: The big board in the middle of the boat
Rudder: The big board in the back of the boat
Propulsion & Steering: The engine, propeller, fuel tank & steering wheel
Sails : Self explanatory
Final Details: All the little things that cost more time and money than you planned for
Vendors: The guys that make all the shiny bits that cost so much!

To tell you the truth - I'm excited, scared and nervous all at the same time.
I've been planning this project for years now and it appears that all the posturing and planning may finally be paying off. With the building location selected and approved we are ready to get started as soon as spring arrives.

I've already met a LOT of really nice folks along the way. Folks that have gone out of their way to load me up with all sorts of information, instruction, contacts and lessons learned. I'll be leaning on each and every one of them as I move through the up's and down's - high's and low's that this project will certainly bring. I can only hope this blog will help someone as much as other's blogs have helped me.

The plans for this summer will mostly center around getting the slab and building completed. Then we'll work on the HVAC, lighting and electrical connections. After that I'll be building the work tables and fabric racks. Then comes the initial order of epoxy, foam, fabric and MDF.

I'm hoping to have all that done by the end of August so the strong back, frames and stringers can be ready to accept foam by the end of October.

In the meantime, this is what I stare at during my lunch break:

Pardon my dust

I'll be working on making some changes to the blog, so things might get a bit confusing for a while.

This Blog has served as a single site for my research, planning and experimentation and small purchases over the past few years. It has worked just fine, but as more content gets published I think it will become ever more difficult to find something specific along the way.

So before things get too out of hand, I plan to build several blogs to detail the major components of the project.

Once that gets ironed out, I'll be moving the individual posts over to the new sites and providing the cross-link information.

I'm sure there's probably a simpler way, but I'm just not aware of it at this time.
